I'm just like most mamas, I like to do what's best for my kids. I try to keep them both happy and healthy which is sometimes contradictory, especially when it comes to eating. For the most part, Delilah eats very well. She even eats things that most adults would turn their nose up at (vegan roasted vegetable pizza). During the holidays, there seemed to be sweets and cakes everywhere at all times and because she is allergic to dairy, 99% of the time she could not eat them. Try explaining that to a 2 year old. No really, go try it. Let me know when they are done throwing a tantrum and you'll understand why we were on the hunt for a handy dairy free portable dessert that we could spring on her in these awkward situations. Enter the Trader Joe Joe (or Newman O's or these
or you get the point, "Organic Oreos") Well, it sure did the trick! In fact... it worked a little TOO WELL if you get my drift. My 2 year is in love. It sure is amazing how our kids latch on to our weak moments and really drive them home. I was Mrs TV rots your brains and home baked goodies and now my 2 year runs around chanting "DOG DOG - JOE JOE!" (Martha Speaks on PBS
and the damn cookies).
I've told myself, well it's okay - she's 2, she breastfed for over 2 years, 95% of her diet is healthy so I shouldn't beat myself up too bad. It will be okay, maybe she'll outgrow her love for creme fillings?
At least I can still control what my little one eats, right? I mean she is always so happy when I give her an apple or carrot to gnaw on...
Well, guess again mommy! The other day, Quinny was on the bed gnawing on her carrot stick with mild interest when I was working on the computer (yes, ignoring her - geesh, I am human, people). I think I can say she wasn't totally excited about the carrot but it was keeping her occupied. All of a sudden I hear her happily munching away on her carrot stick! Oh wow! Cool! So, I turn to look and wait that's not a carrot... What the hell is that?! (this is where I start to panic and hope it's not something dangerous!) Do you see where I'm going with this people?
Yep - Delilah being the sweet loving sister that she is, is sharing her JOE JOE with Quinn... *groan* On the one hand it's really sweet that she is sharing her beloved JOE JOE but really? A cookie in my 7 month old's mouth? Ugh, ugh, ugh...
She sure does look happy though, huh?

Erin - don't you just LOVE that!!! ugh! It's hard to be mad at a 2 year old but a grown woman should know better. I've missed you on the loops but your new blog is rockin'!
Lili - Can't wait to see you!! I feel like I haven't talked to you in like 10 million years. Quinny is like the female Dylan. HUGE ;) Hope you can squeeze us in to your busy schedule and I hope you are squeezing in time for yourself. xoxo
